A succulent teacup garden

We love vintage teacups. When we rescue them at tag sales and estate sales we can not wait to drink our afternoon tea from them. After a while we have quite the collection and have decided why not use them for more than just tea. There is a rare cold snap in Florida right now and we wanted to bring part of our garden inside. So a little succulent garden began by using our unique teacups to plant them in. [Even faux plants work!] Succulent teacup gardens are a great way to put to use those teacups with chips in them. These also make great living decor at weddings and other events, or as a thoughtful gift.  So the next time you are near Tallahassee, Florida stop by The Other Side Vintage and check out our unique teacups.

Before & After vintage furniture set

Before & After of vintage furniture set. After photos are first. Before photos below. This set was beautiful in its natural setting, but our clients prefer the shabby chic, distressed look and wanted these revamped in white. Began with a light sanding, 2 coats of primer, then many coats of creamy white, crisp paint. Then lightly distressed by hand, with 3 coats of clear sealant and wow these are beautiful!

Before and After Mid Century Dog Bed

We found this lovely Mid Century Klein piece and wasn’t sure what it was originally.  Decided that it would make the perfect doggie bed.  We had to sand and refurbish some of the wood issues as this item has been neglected a bit.  After that we created this custom color of chalk paint and after many coats, along with several clear sealer coats, voila a perfect doggie bed.

Before & After 1958 chest of drawers

We love coming across vintage real wood treasures that have lost their sass due to wear and neglect.  This beauty had wire tied where the handles should had been and the top was mangled from wear and tear. We did not find a maker’s mark but we did find a stamp dated January 1958 on the bottom of one of the drawers.  This is all wood, tongue and groove drawers and lovely as can be now that it has been revamped by one of our local artists.  Sanded down and revamped with a lovely custom color of barely blue hand made chalk paint and then sealed with several coats of matte sealant.  Vintage handles are the original handles that we were lucky to find inside the chest of drawers.
