Before & After 1958 chest of drawers

We love coming across vintage real wood treasures that have lost their sass due to wear and neglect.  This beauty had wire tied where the handles should had been and the top was mangled from wear and tear. We did not find a maker’s mark but we did find a stamp dated January 1958 on the bottom of one of the drawers.  This is all wood, tongue and groove drawers and lovely as can be now that it has been revamped by one of our local artists.  Sanded down and revamped with a lovely custom color of barely blue hand made chalk paint and then sealed with several coats of matte sealant.  Vintage handles are the original handles that we were lucky to find inside the chest of drawers.

Before and After 40s Chest of Drawers

We love revamping items such as this 1940s chest of drawers.  This item found its way into our lives and it was just screaming to be loved and transformed back into its heyday.  After cleaning it with gentle cleaners and lots of elbow grease to get the nicotine and years of grime off, we gently sanded it, glued and shored up the drawers, and then prepared it for its first coat of primer.

We used three coats of primer, leaving dry time in-between coats.  Then we decided to go monochromatic in a lovely 1940s glamour grey.  After applying six coats with dry time in-between coats, we let it cure for a few days.  After that, we applied three coats of a clear, yet matte top coat, allowing dry time in-between coats.  Now it is lovely and ready to shine in its new home.  We priced it at a reasonable $159.  Call 850/224-6666 for more information on this or other items we have revamped, or to purchase via phone.  Check out other items on our Facebook page where there are many photos to look at http://www.Facebook.com/theothersidevintage or Instagram #theothersidevintage.
